Our staff

Veterinary surgeons

The practice has 2 clinical directors Gordon Slater and Sarah Reeves. There is a team of 2 other vets (Sabine Langer and Sally Caunce).

gordon

Gordon Slater BVMS MRCVS

Gordon is from Ayrshire in Scotland, and graduated from Glasgow University. He spent his initial time working in busy farm (dairy) practice in Ayrshire, before coming down to England to work in small animal practice, initially in Lancashire, before settling on the right side of the pennines here in West Yorkshire! Gordon has spent most of his post graduate development on small animal internal medicine and its related lab work. When not at work Gordon enjoys running with Dexter, his pet labrador, and walking in the dales, and Scotland with his wife and their other dog Rosie, a Border Terrier

sarah

Sarah Reeves  BVetMed MRCVS

Sarah is from Lancashire and graduated from Liverpool University. She initially spent some time travelling around the world, while also working as a veterinary surgeon in a number of practices. She has been settled here in West Yorkshire for some time now, and we have really reaped the benefits of her previous broad experience and interest in small animal medicine and surgery. Sarah is a particularly skilled soft tissue surgeon. Sarah’s free time is presently taken up with a very young family, but she is a keen cyclist, and traveller!

sally

Sally Caunce

Sally has been with the practice working part with the practice for several years. Sally has several pets including Dotty, which she took home when she came in to the practice as a stray.

sabine

Sabine Langer

She has 20 years experience and has previously worked for PDSA.

Veterinary nurses

Like the veterinary surgeons, our nurses have many years experience in veterinary medicine. They are all totally dedicated to the job, which they love. All of our nurses are fully qualified and registered veterinary nurses.

diane

Diane Wood RVN

Diane is from Derbyshire, and has been with our practice for over 20 years! She is hugely experienced not only in all aspects of veterinary nursing, but in communicating this to you, the pet owner.

gayle

Gayle Ball RVN

Gayle has been training and working as a veterinary nurse since she left school! While Gayle is originally a local lass she has moved back to the area after some years running the nursing team as Head Nurse of a north yorkshire dales veterinary practice. We are now benefiting from her many years of experience, and lovely disposition.

kathy

Kathy Bailey RVN

Kathy is a Bradford lass! She has been with the practice for many years, before, during, and after raising a family! She is very experienced and approachable. Kathy runs our weight clinics and is very successful with them!

kat-seed

Kathryn Seed RVN

Kathryn joined us in 2013 from another practice in Leeds and helps to provide more nursing cover, so that we can offer nurse clinics all day every day. Kathryn has many years experience as a vet nurse and enjoys spending her spare time walking her dog and baking.

sarah-hosty

Sarah Hosty RVN

Sarah is from Huddersfield. She trained and subsequently qualified as a Veterinary Nurse with us here at Shearbridge. So, she really does have great understanding of the practice, and our clients. Sarah particularly enjoys directing the senior clinics, and with Kathy runs the hugely popular Puppy Parties. Watch out for her posts on Facebook!

Support staff

janet

Janet Jakubowski

Janet is our longest serving employee. Having closed the Bradford site over a year ago, Janet now works from the Hipperholme centre where she carries out reception duties, but behind the scenes is the manager of the practice. She has a particular interest in helping clients complete pet insurance claim forms.

angela

Angela Crabbe

Angela works from the Queensbury centre. She lives nearby, and has been with us for many years, and now knows most of the clients very well. Her long experience working with us shows in the calm and pleasant way she helps our clients and their pets.

julie

Julie Sutcliffe

Julie also works from the Queensbury centre. She has not been with us for as long as some of the others, having started work with us in 2010. Julie rapidly showed herself to be a great asset as a front of house person, clearly loving her job, and being particularly good communicating with our clients.

clare

Claire Barker

Claire works from our Hipperholme centre. She has been with us a number of years, owns many pets, and seems to manage to juggle her job with her growing family very well. Clearly she likes her work!

julie

Julie Allen

Julie works from our Hipperholme centre, sharing the evenings with Claire. Julie loves pets, also enthusiastically working as a local dog walker when she’s not helping us! You’ll find Julie a very easy person to speak to and a great help with her general pet experience.

lucy

Lucy Bashforth

Lucy spent many years working from our Hipperholme branch with a mix of nursing and reception/admin duties. More recently she has taken on the full time role of reception at our Queensbury branch and has settled into the role extremely well, she is the pet insurance administrator for the practice. Lucy is particularly approachable, has lots of experience, and skill in veterinary nursing, and loves chatting to clients!
